Climbing plants

Climbing plants can be used anywhere: to cover a wall, decorate a pergola, hide a fence or make a screen of plants that covers a trellis and acts as a partition, the possibilities are endless.

There are several types of climbing plants:
- those that attach themselves to a wall by small spikes (ivy,virginia creeper or climbing hydrangea...)
- those that attach themselves to a trellis by tendrils (clematis...),
- those that need to be attached to their support manually (such as the kiwi, roses and jasmine). This last group are the easiest to keep under control.

It is important to choose the right climbing plant for the job. To create a screen go for the evergreen varieties. For a decorative effect choose a mixture of flowering climbers.Finally , climbers might be the ideal solution for ground cover notably ivy which is perfect for those shady areas of your garden.
