Bamboo Phyllostachys aurea H   /   Phyllostachys aurea Holochrysa

Geographic Origin: Originates from the coastal provinces of south east China, it is also found in Japan.

Adult size: 4 to 6.5 metres in height.

Diameter of cane: 2 to 4 cm.

Foliage: Evergreen.

Type of soil: Moist and deep. Does not like excessive chalk.

Exposure: Partial shade or sun.

Hardiness: -20°C.

Root development: Runner root system (spreading variety).

Characteristics and uses:
This bamboo has dense green foliage. Its canes are bright yellow, but the young shoots are green to start with. The older canes turn yellow orange in colour. It has an upright form and has the common features of the phyllostachys aurea.

It can be used for hedging or as a single specimen, it is happy planted in a pot or planter.

It was introduced into France in the 1980’s. It is also known by the name of phyllostachys bambusoides 'All gold'. It does not like cold northeasterly winds.
