Area of origin: Mediterranean.

Adult Dimensions: Height up to 30m, width up to 30m (98,4').

Foliage: Evergreen.

Soil Type: Avoid soil that is too wet.

Hardiness: Although quite tolerant of cold avoid frequent cold winters of -15°C.

Exposure: Full sun.

Characteristics and Uses:
The prickly leaves of the Holm Oak are often confused with those of holly. The acorns are enjoyed by animals. In Spain the black pigs that are used to produce the celebrated Jabugo hams are raised under the Evergreen Oaks and eat the acorns.
