Botanical garden of Berlin

Areas of Origin : Northern Iran, Eastern Caucasus. Introduced into Europe in 1841.

Adult Dimensions : Height up to 10 metres, width up to 10 metres (65,6').

Foliage : Deciduous.

Soil type : Quite fertile, moist but well drained.

Hardiness : Hardy tolerant to -23°C.

Exposure : Semi-shade to full sun.

Characteristics and Uses : This little tree produces a fantastic display of colour in autumn: golden yellow, scarlet red and violet. In winter the bark comes off like that of a plane tree leaving light markings of red and brown. At the end of winter, the branches are covered with numerous little red flowers without petals. Whether planted alone or in group this little tree will add great pleasure to your garden.
