Foliage: Deciduous.

Soil Type: Very rich, fertile and moist. Avoid lime.

Crack Willow - Salix fragilis

Characteristics and Uses:
The finely toothed leaves are shiny green on top and whitish underneath. This beautiful tree is often cut low as the young branches are used in basket work. The branches are green-brown or yellowish, smooth and are often blown of the main branches by the wind as they are quite fragile. Usually planted alongside waterways and around lakes and ponds this lovely tree can be planted alone or in groups.
