Geographic origins: Madagascar.

Adult size: Height up to 6 metres in its natural environment, but not more than 2.5 metres in a pot.

Foliage: Evergreen.

Type of soil: All, well drained.

Climate: The ideal temperature is between 18 and 22°C, it will die if the temperature is below 15°C.

Exposure: Full light but protected from direct sunlight.

Characteristics and uses: The areca is a magnificent indoor palm. Its long leaves that part from its base add an unbelievable touch of greenery and freshness.
The areca enjoys warm spots with plenty of light. It also appreciates humidity so do not hesitate to spray its leaves regularly with water. Water it regularly during its growing period but do not let the water stagnate or drown the soil. In winter let the soil dry out between watering.
In addition, the areca is an air purifying plant that is efficient against formaldehyde, toluene and xylene.
